I warned Man Utd fans for Ten Hag when he signed. I got ridiculed. What Ten Hag has been doing since he signed from my point of view is try to mimic the Ajax team he had some success with. He really is a one trick pony. The problem is he will never be able to replicate that system anywhere since it depended on the rather unique traits of the players in that team like Ziyech, Tadic among others. The squad he has at Utd does not have these qualities to allow that style of play. They're quality players don't get me wrong but you can't use them in the only system Ten Hag knows to apply (involving high intensity offensive pressing). I disagree Ten Hag adheres to positional play philosophy. His style is high intensity offensive pressing and transition. His system does not rely on overload nor overlap it depends on high press, transition and individual quality. The comparison with other positional playstyle teams is therefore pointless. It's not what Ten Hag plays. You're misunderstanding his philosophy.
